We exist... to enjoy and to share Christ's Love |

A Message from Our Pastor First Baptist is a church with a long and good history. We have been ministering in the Sister Bay area since 1872 and were one of the first churches to be established in Northern Door. From the beginning, First Baptist has had a commitment to revealing God’s glory through effective ministry and a consistent and accurate proclamation of the Bible. We are evangelical in our commitment to reach out: helping people to discover a personal relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ. We are conservative in our belief that the Bible is the written Word of God, to be accepted as inerrant in the original autographs. It is the only perfect source of knowledge about saving faith, doctrinal truth and matters of personal conduct. We are practical in our practice of the faith, believing that external standards of behavior are rooted in the grace of the Scriptures and not in rules that people invent. We believe that Christians are called to live in a way that brings glory to God, and that there is personal freedom in how this works out in our own consciences before Christ. As a church that is part of the Baptist General Conference we are associated with hundreds of other churches with similar beliefs and practices. The BGC has its roots in the pietistic movements of the 19th century and was originally known as the Swedish Baptist Churches of America. First Baptist started as a mission church in that movement and was originally led by a missionary from Sweden who was asked by local, committed-Christian families, to come to Sister Bay. We have never lost that missionary zeal, and are grateful to God for our good heritage and His faithfulness to us over the years. Pastor James Danhof |
